What Wherever is
Wherever gives you a booking link. People who open it see when you are free, in their own timezone, based on where you have said you will be. This page explains what data the service handles and why.
If you sign in to share a booking link
- Google account details: your name, email address and Google account identifier, used to create your account and your link.
- Calendar busy times: the start and end of busy periods on your primary Google Calendar, read at the moment someone opens your link so that taken times are not offered. Wherever does not read event titles, descriptions, guests or locations, cannot change your calendar, and does not store your busy times.
- Your settings: working hours, meeting length, and the cities, timezones and dates you enter for your travel.
- A Google access key: a refresh token that lets Wherever check your busy times while you are away. It is stored encrypted.
If you book a time with someone
Wherever stores your name, email address, timezone and the time you booked, and shares them with the person you booked. Wherever does not add anything to either calendar by itself; after booking you are offered a link to add the meeting to your own calendar.
Location
Wherever reads the timezone your device reports. It uses your device's location only if you allow it: on the website when you tap “Use my location”, and in the iPhone app when you turn on “Keep my location current”, after which the app checks each time you open it. The position is rounded and used to find the nearest city; it is not stored on the server. The app keeps the last rounded position on your phone to tell a real journey from a short trip. Visitors only ever see a city and timezone.
How Google data is used
Wherever's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google data is used only to provide the booking features described here. It is not sold, not used for advertising, not used to train AI models, and not read by people except where needed for security, to comply with the law, or with your permission.
Who else handles the data
The site is hosted by Vercel and the database by Neon; both process data on Wherever's behalf. Booking emails are sent through Resend. Google provides sign-in and calendar access. Vercel Web Analytics counts page visits and a few actions (a link copied, a booking made) without cookies and without identifying you. PostHog records how the site is used, including anonymised replays of sessions, to help us fix problems: what you type and other people's names and emails are hidden from those replays. Data is not shared with anyone else.
Keeping and deleting data
Your data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account from the dashboard under Availability settings: this withdraws Wherever's access to your Google account and removes your settings and bookings. You can also withdraw access at any time from your Google account's security settings. To have a booking you made removed, email the address below.
